Richard的故事始于2006年，当时他仅仅是为了提升沟通技巧而加入了Toastmasters。在励志演讲大师Les Brown的推荐下，他踏入了这个改变他一生的组织。仅在短短一年内，他便从一名普通会员跃升为大区领导者，并在14年后成为Toastmasters International国际主席（2020-2021头马年度）。

Richard’s story began in 2006 when he joined Toastmasters solely to enhance his communication skills. At the recommendation of the motivational speaking maestro, Les Brown, he stepped into this life-altering organization. Within just one year, he rose from a regular member to a district leader, and 14 years later, he became International President of Toastmasters International (2020-2021 term).

作为一名电气工程学士和国际商务MBA，Richard的背景看似与公众演讲和领导力毫不相关。但正是这种跨界经历，让他以独特的视角重新定义了领导力的本质。他的领导力信条是：“领导者的核心不在于成为关注的焦点，而在于成为行动的中心！”

With a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an MBA in International Business, Richard’s background may seem unrelated to public speaking and leadership at first glance. However, it is precisely this cross-disciplinary experience that allowed him to redefine the essence of leadership from a unique perspective. His leadership creed is: ” Being a leader is not about being the center of attention, being a leader is about being the epicenter of action!”

2020年，疫情肆虐全球，Richard接任国际主席后，直面这前所未有的挑战，发起了“国际主席全球巡讲”，在140多个国家进行了线上演讲。这一创举不仅让他深入了解了Toastmasters全球会员的文化多样性和会员需求，也让他重新定义了虚拟沟通的力量。疫情之后，他的足迹遍布五洲，通过面对面的交流，影响了无数会员和领导者。

In 2020, as the pandemic ravaged the globe, Richard took on the role of International President and confronted this unprecedented challenge by launching the “International President’s Global Speaking Tour,” delivering online speeches in over 140 countries. This groundbreaking initiative not only allowed him to gain a deep understanding of the cultural diversity and needs of Toastmasters members worldwide but also redefined the power of virtual communication. After the pandemic, his journey spanned across five continents, influencing countless members and leaders through face-to-face interactions.

2022年，Richard再次被推选为代理国际主席，成为Toastmasters历史上首位两次担任这一职位的领导者，也因此成为Toastmasters董事会中任期最长的成员。他的领导力不仅体现在组织内部，还延伸至Kiwanis International、Lions Club International等国际志愿者组织，并荣获2018年美国总统志愿者服务奖。

In 2022, Richard was asked to serve as the Acting International President, becoming the first leader in Toastmasters history to hold this position twice, thus the longest-serving member of the Toastmasters Board of Directors. His leadership extends beyond the organization, reaching into international volunteer organizations such as Kiwanis International and Lions Club International. He was honored with a United States Presidential Award for Volunteerism in 2018.

卸任国际主席之后，Richard目前仍活跃于多个Toastmasters俱乐部，包括他最初加入的Nutmeg Toastmasters、Park City Toastmasters以及New England Advanced Toastmasters（N.E.A.T.）。他还是World Travelers Toastmasters俱乐部的荣誉会员。

After stepping down as International President, Richard remains active in several Toastmasters clubs, including Nutmeg Toastmasters where he first joined, Park City Toastmasters, and New England Advanced Toastmasters (N.E.A.T.). He is also an honorary member of the World Travelers Toastmasters Club.

与此同时，Richard也是一位备受追捧的领导者、教练和导师。Richard与他人合著的《Poking The Cadaver: A Forensic Approach to Public Speaking》一书，以其独特的“法医式”视角剖析公众演讲，成为许多演讲者的必读书目。
